CO2 CAN BE HOSTILE IN WELLS....
And cause damage
to packer rubber parts unless packer elements
and seals are produced from the MPI Compound 20-005-80.
MPI compound 20-005-80
has been designed to resist adverse reaction to all
"HOSTILE GASES" found
in critical well conditions. This compound has been
tested and field proven to stand gas percentages of
2-90%, temperatures up to 425o F and
pressures up to 7000psi without blistering,
swelling, cold flow or hardening.
Revitalizing proven reserves that have become
dormant or less productive are now being looked at
for application of CO2 injection. This is
due to the miscibility of CO2 and oil.
With this greater activity, it becomes more
important that all rubber products be compatible
with the conditions. MPI has had years of producing
rubber packer elements and seals that meet
practically all operations that are met in this
environment.
The 20-005-80 compound
was designed to work in gas applications and
elevated temperatures. It's formulation was
pointed towards this end and field tests and use
have proven it meets most all criteria. It only
comes in one durometer because the design parameters
dictated the end result. It was designed strictly
for gas and high temperature service and other
properties were produced as they fell.
